Information Technology jobs are still in high demand across the state, according to the latest Tech Talent Trends Alert from the North Carolina Technology Association.
The trends alert offers about which jobs are in demand, and which companies are looking to hire.
Brooks Raiford is the organization's president and C.E.O.
"The numbers show that in April there were more than 20,000 I.T. jobs open in North Carolina. Although that is a slight dip from the previous month, it is actually higher than the same month, year prior," he said. "And also, March and April are the two highest months of the last 12."
Raiford said this monthly snapshot offers useful information for job seekers as well as employers to see how they stack up against the competition, which aren't always tech companies. Banks, energy, and retail companies are also top hirers of I.T. professionals.
Raiford said most jobs are concentrated near Charlotte or Research Triangle Park, but there's constant shifting among mid-size market regions, like the Triad and Wilmington. Raiford says other areas can shift ranks when a large employer there decides to create jobs.
"Jacksonville or other areas where there are a large military presence and therefore a large transition at any given time of military professionals who are transitioning out of the military and into the private sector, there are sometimes large bumps in hiring because of that."
Raiford said network administrators, cyber security experts and software developers are in highest demand, but he says that could change over time.
