Two people, one a former Raleigh school teacher, have pleaded guilty to plotting a murder-for-hire scheme in the Triangle.
Two defendants in this case have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder for hire. This was not your average shoot to kill murder. Nevine Elshiekh and Shukumbin Sherifi allegedly paid someone five-thousand-dollars to be-head witnesses from a terrorism trial in Raleigh. Turns out they were paying an FBI informant.
The FBI informant even showed Sherifi doctored photos of the be-headed corpses. At one point attorneys for Elshiekh had tried to get her a separate trial in the case. The former teacher at Sterling Montessori Academy and Charter School in Morrisville had said she wasn鈥檛 aware of the murder plot. The US Attorney鈥檚 Office says the murder-for-hire was to retaliate against witnesses who testified against Sherifi鈥檚 brother who is serving 45 years in prison for his role in terrorism-related activities. Elshiekh and Sherifi face up to 10 years in prison.
