New Orleans restaurants are helping Asheville restaurants for hurricane recovery: Cooks for Carolina is, "A New Orleans dinner series to support Asheville’s independent restaurants." Exclusive dinners held by chefs and restaurants in NoLa will raise funds for restaurants and employees in Asheville.
Gourmand is one of those restaurants. It was supposed to open in the River Arts District of Asheville. Instead, Gourmand’s building crashed into the brewery next door.
This wasn’t the first spot of bad luck for the owners of the restaurant. They moved to Asheville hoping to get away from hurricanes, since they originally opened in New Orleans before Hurricane Ida hit in 2021.
Gourmand has started a GoFundMe , and you can learn more about the Cooks for Carolina series .
