In the year since a professor was killed at UNC-Chapel Hill, university officials have changed how they train for and respond to an active shooter on campus.

Some federal search warrants have revealed new details about a shooting in August on the University of North Carolina's flagship campus that left a professor dead. Orange County Superior Court Judge Alyson Grine said Monday that two separate mental evaluations found Qi likely suffers from untreated schizophrenia. She has ruled that Qi will be committed to Central Regional Hospital in Butner for psychological treatment. Doctors will be required to notify the Orange County district attorney if his condition improves.
