Donating Stock and Other Securities

Electronic transfers must be out of your control and received by UNC at Chapel Hill's Wells Fargo Advisors brokerage account by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31. Please email Jennifer Fusco (jfusco@wunc.org) with your name, the number of shares and name of stocks transferred as a gift to ¹ÏÉñapp Radio. For stock transfer instructions please click here: []

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution Gift

Qualifying IRA Rollover contributions (IRA Rollovers) or gifts made from your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) can be made directly from your IRA Administrator with the same receipt requirements as checks (postmarked on or by Dec. 31, 2024).

However, if you write a check from an IRA checkbook or other retirement account that you control, IRS requirements dictate these checks must be debited from your account on or before Dec. 31. To ensure checks written from an IRA checkbook clear your account in the 2024 tax year, they should be received by our office by Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024. [More Information]

Credit Card Donations

Gifts for the current calendar year can be through 11:59 p.m. on December 31. You can also call 800-962-9862 to make a credit card donation by phone. However, your gift must be charged by 11:59 p.m. to count in the current calendar year, so please call with plenty of time for your gift to be charged before the new year begins at midnight!

If you want to mail in a credit card gift, it must arrive by Wednesday, December 18. The postmark date does not apply for credit card gifts received by mail. Your credit card must be charged by December 31 to count as a gift in this tax year.

Gifts by Check

Cash Gifts by Wire Transfer:

Gifts of cash to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s cash account must be received by 4 p.m. on December 31. Please alert UNC that your gift is coming and that it is designated to ¹ÏÉñapp by calling or emailing them at: 919-537-3818 or giving@unc.edu. []
